Justin and I worked on the list he used to play that daily. We played it the last two years at TMD Open as a 5 color deck, but he went with the dual manabase online since he already had most of it. The deck is already pretty weak to Mental Misstep so Animate Dead is not too bad. It's possible it should be Reanimate anyway, but it is a pretty big chunk of your life total for creatures without lifelink. It's a lot harder to win the race with a 7/11 or battleball when you've domed yourself for that much. What we realized as we put together the list is that most of the awesome vintage cards printed since CA was around have been extremely bad for the deck, but it's still pretty fun to play.
@cutlex To be honest I think I only drew Portal once out of the games I sided it in all day, and it was subpar as I was already on the back foot. The line of thinking is that it is good for games that go long since there are not too many other card advantage sources in the deck. I often find that in sideboarded games my oppts will have lots of removal but be a little light on action, and sticking a Portal for a couple of turns can be huge. It also seemed relevant in the mirror where they have no way to remove it and you can simply trade resources until you come out on top.
Going forward Portal is probably a little too slow. I liked Will's aggressive sideboard plan for the mirror, as it seemed to work well against most of the shop decks that get grindier post-board. That said, I'm still a fan of maindeck Tangle Wires and am not certain my build is set up to leverage that kind of role shift.

For what it's worth I came in 3rd with Tangle Wires still in my deck. I've seen a lot of Wire-less (heh) lists running around, but I feel like PO and Mentor decks can do so much so quickly if you don't have enough lock components. In playing the deck I'm often most concerned about the oppt casting Mentor, Oath, Tinker, and other sorcery speed bombs that practically end the game. It helps that Fragmentize, By Force, and Dack are also sorcery speed. I get the argument for having a faster clock, but a clock without disruption is rarely good enough these days so for now I'm erring on the side of more lock pieces.
