    @darkr3x

An L1 from Delaware, I consider myself a Vintage Specialist Judge. I play Death and Taxes in every format it's viable as well as politically driven EDH decks like Zedruu. You'll probably recognize me by my bandana.

I run the MTG Community Calendar and am Co-Editor at CardConfidants.com

    • The Vintage Community Calendar

      Hey all,

After some work, I've got a Google calendar populating with paper US Vintage events (International and Online ones in the near future). It's all at a glance type stuff, but it's nice to see everything in relation.

If you want to add an event to your own calendar, you can click Copy Event, like the below screen shot.

If you've got questions, comments, or concerns, reply here or tweet '@darkr3x' or '@CMTYCalendarMTG'

See you all at an event soon!

    • Other Vintage Judges?

      Hey,

I know most of the community on here consists of players, but that's good. I've got questions for you all about how to better serve the community.

For now though, who else judges Vintage on a regular basis?

    • RE: Standarized Tournament Annoucement Format

My goal is to have an app that

      • A player can use to track events they have attended and plan to attend
      • Will suggest other events to that player if they match their preferences(format/payout/distance/etc.).
      • Make other players in the area aware of those events, also on preference
      • Will allow TOs to easily promote events

The goal is to have a truly community cultivated calendar of events, such that you could go to another city and easily find out what store does drafts that evening or know before traveling if something like a PPTQ has been rescheduled since that information isn't updated on Wizard's site. I'm still working on the DB Schema, and probably should just focus on translating what I do now in Sheets into a Database so at least I'm not maintaining redundant data and can work on functionality while not losing the work I'm already invested in.

Adding to that, if you want to write about your local Vintage community, give a well reasoned shout out to someone improving the format, or explain how playing pushes you a better person, I would love to feature it on CardConfidants.

@Islandswamp Yup. I'm the editor for a site whose motto is "Everday content for everyday players" and I mean that in nearly every way you can read that.

So while we do publish strategic content, set reviews, gameplay fundamentals, and so forth, I really want to hear from people for whom Magic (or gaming in general) has helped them deal with life shit, who've had to make the difficult decisions to balance the game and life, or how a silly idea became a deck that did work.

Magic is a hobby of passion, you don't spend car-sized money on something you don't love, and I believe that human element sometimes gets lost in all the metagame analysis, number crunching, and vehement arguments about optimal builds and lines of play.

@Krieg Yup, it is a community calendar, and that means everyone. I'll add anything I see here, but you can also submit events to my form: http://www.cardconfidants.com/submit-a-community-event/

Daily events are now up! Will add other online events in the near future, getting the recur script to work took most of my time this evening.

@DeaTh-ShiNoBi Do want to point out that WoTC doesn't directly profit from the VSL anymore (nor any other SL if I recall correctly). It's supported by a Patreon that goes directly to Randy.
