With @islandswamp mentioning my list, I felt inspired to share my experiences with my list over Eternal Weekend. It is not as detailed as others, sinceI really only have my pad paper scraps to rely on to recall certain events from matches.

Going into Eternal Weekend, I reflected on the following:
-Being able to attack through Moat, a counter-measure that also deals with Eldrazi threats in blue decks, was something I wanted to have available.
-I suspected that a significant amount of Eldrazi decks would be played, so I decided to relegate the Thorn of Amethysts to add Crucible of Worlds and Smokestack. I also wanted Ghost Quarter main since testing with my friends back of home with colorless Eldrazi also helped against both Eldrazi and Workshop mirrors.
-Returning to Mishra's Factory and Karn, Silver Golem to crew/animate vehicles felt like such excellent synergy that I wanted to try it out.
-Chief of the Foundry was a strong 'lord effect' for a beatdown plan against Null Rod decks. Additionally, it allows for stronger vehicles and for Phyrexian Revoker to Crew Skysovereign, Consul's Flagship solo.
-With so many 1-ofs and 2-ofs, adding Inventors' Fair would prove to be a crucial tutor for the list (in addition to regaining life from Ancient Tomb), so pending on your draws, you can change your game plan accordingly. Smuggler's Copter also allowed for some card filtering to help with this strategy. Combined with Crucible of Worlds, you end up having a very powerful engine that uses 'every part of the deer'.

Onward to the weekend itself....

Round-by-Round Observations:
Rnd-1 – Eldrazi (Christopher McCurry)
Outcome: 2-0
Notable cards from opponent: Matter Reshaper
Noteworthy cards for me: Phyrexian Metamorph, Ghost Quarter

Rnd-2 – Omni-Tell, Sultai Oath (Colin Wu)
Outcome: 2-1
Noteable cards from opponent: Blazing Archon, Omniscience, Show and Tell
Noteworthy cards for me: Smuggler’s Copter, Fleetwheel Cruiser
-My opponent attempted to race me by attacking with Griselbrand while keeping me at bay with Blazing Archon; however, using Oath to get Blazing Archon out milled him to very few cards left. Smuggler's Copter bought enough time to win a game via decking.

Rnd-3 – MUD (Charlie Krug)
Outcome: 2-0
Noteable cards from opponent: Mishra’s Workshop
Noteworthy cards for me: Chief of the Foundry, Crucible of Worlds, Ghost Quarter

Rnd-4 – MUD (Ryan Glackin)
Outcome: 2-1 (Ryan scooped when we went to turns since he was paired up.)
Noteable cards from opponent: Ensnaring Bridge, Smokestack, Crucible of Worlds
Noteworthy cards for me: Phyrexian Metamorph, Triskelion

Rnd-5 – Gush-Mentor (Jonathan Suarez)
Outcome: 2-1
Noteable cards from opponent: Gush, Monastery Mentor
Noteworthy cards for me: Sphere of Resistance, Thorn of Amethyst

Reflections:
I found myself slightly dissatisfied with 2x The Tabernacle of Pendrell Vale, so I decided to cut one for a Spine of Ish Shah, a piece of technology I implemented after noticing it in Hiromichi Ito’s sideboard for his Workshops list. Inventors' Fair could allow me to tutor for it in certain situations.

Rnd-7 - Mentor (Daniel Miller)
Outcome: 2-0
Noteable cards from opponent: Stony Silence
Noteworthy cards for me: Chief of the Foundry, Inventors’ Fair, Karn, Silver Golem
-I recall using Inventors' Fair to tutor for Karn, Silver Golem who eventually started animating vehicles and other assorted artifacts.

Rnd-8 – White Eldrazi (Erik Pentycofe)
Outcome: 0-2
Noteable cards from opponent: Thalia, Guardian of Thraben, Thalia, Heretic Cathar, Snow-Covered Plains

Noteable cards from opponent: Paradoxical Outcome, Thoughtcast, Force of Will
Noteworthy cards for me: Sphere of Resistance, Tangle Wire, Smokestack

Reflections:
This list performed well. Due to how this list could attack from so many different angles, it kept most of my opponents off-balance as to how you would attack their game plan. The ability to change your plan due to the card filtering and the tutor effects allowed for this.

Going into Round 6, I really had no idea what I was facing. I wish I could have shown the capabilities of what my deck could do on camera better, but alas, it was just not meant to be.

Overall, an 11th place finish was not too shabby.

Finally, I feel that my deck name needed some explanation.

I named the deck after what was playing on my TV at the time while considering my deck choice: the LEGO movie. The scene that was playing was when 1980s Spaceman was building spaceships to save the rest of the crew. He also happens to be my favorite character in the movie. In my first pack of Kaladesh, I opened the Skysovereign, Consul’s Flagship, and it reminded me of this scene. Thus, with all of these happening simultaneously, the name’s origin came to be.

Seeing how this deck seems to do some many awesome things, I have started calling it LEGO shops ever since because it reminds me of building with LEGO (Helicopters, Cars, 'Space' ships, etc).

Thanks for reading.

15 Players came out to play Sanctioned Vintage on 4/15/2018.

At the event, some players inquired as to whether the bye is transferrable to other events such as the Vintage Championship held in Europe or Asia. Currently, CardTitan.com has been contacted, and we are awaiting additional feedback at this time.

With the success of this event, we are looking forward to hosting another one in the near future. Stay tuned!

The NYSE Open is one of the most lucrative and illustrious tournaments for the Vintage community.

Held in New York each time, this tournament typically takes place during the summer months and brings people from many surrounding states.

Every year, the NYSE Open produces one of the most generous payouts on this side of the world, giving away multiple pieces of power and several Vintage format staples as prizes to top finishers!

However, there are only so many spots available for this event.

How would you like to secure your spot to such a lucrative tournament?

Alternate Worlds is hosting a NYSE Qualifier for the NYSE VI Open in July on May 25th.

Here are the details in a convenient format:
Date: May 25th, 2019
Format: Vintage, maximum 15 proxies allowed.
-Proxy guidelines will follow the NYSE guidelines and is detailed below.
Duration: Swiss rounds based on attendance with cut to Top 4 or 8 as required.
Location: Alternate Worlds - 10854 York Rd, Cockeysville, MD 21030
Time: 10:30AM Registration, 11AM Start
Cost: $30
Head Judge: Ben Pollin
Prizes:
-Entry into the NYSE for the winner.
-Store credit based on attendance and awarded to top finishers.

Proxy Guidelines (as per NYSE Open VI Rules):
"Most everyone on these forums knows what a proxy is. A proxy, for the N.Y.S.E. Open, will be defined as the following:
A Magic: the Gathering card with the full name, card type (instant, sorcery, land, artifact, creature, enchantment, planeswalker), full mana cost and text clearly displayed. This can be done in one of two ways:

  1. Using a Sharpie, not pen or pencil, to fill in the required text on a card where it can clearly be read. Revised lands are excellent for this, new commons and uncommons aren't usually, as they're darker, and far tougher to read.

  2. Using acetone to remove certain text from a card that's close to the intended proxy (i.e. Lotus Bloom, with certain words removed to proxy a Black Lotus, Ancestral Visions with certain words removed to proxy an Ancestral Recall).
Take pride in your proxies! Your opponents should know at all times what your proxies are.

Using 15 Swamps to make your proxies is a bad idea, as it's going to create confusion. If you're proxying Moxen, please use a land from each appropriate color to make a proxy for each according Mox (i.e., your Mox Sapphire is on an Island, your Mox Jet is on a Swamp, your Mox Pearl is on a Plains, etc.).
Please use your best judgment when creating your proxies; we know what will and what won't be easily recognizable.

Your opponents should not ever be at a disadvantage because you don't own the cards. There is nothing wrong with using proxies as you slowly pick up the cards that you need to play Vintage, but please consider your opponents while you're making them, as we're out to make this an enjoyable experience for everyone involved. One of my favorite aspects of the Vintage community is that we look out for each other, whether it's constant vigilance to counter potential thievery, or the day to day stuff that mostly goes unnoticed. Let's all do what we can to make this event as special as we can for our fellow aficionados of Magic's greatest format.

If you're worried that your proxies may not pass muster, please speak to the head judge of the event before the event starts. Leave enough time to create new proxies, if necessary.

Using paper printouts of card faces and gluing them to cards is not acceptable! This alters the thickness of the cards, making the cards marked for all intents and purposes. Please don't do this, as the judges will be instructed to consider these as marked cards, and enforce punishment according to DCI Competitive REL event regulations!"

@Aaron-Patten I started sketching something with Metalworker...

Here's what I'm thinking at the moment...

4 Mishra's Workshop
4 Ancient Tomb
1 Strip Mine
4 Wasteland
1 Tolarian Academy
1 Buried Ruin
1 Ghost Quarter

1 Sol Ring
1 Mana Crypt
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Pearl
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Mana Vault

3 Metalworker
3 Thought-Knot Seer
1 Lodestone Golem
3 Hangarback Walker
3 Arcbound Ravager
2 Phyrexian Revoker
2 Phyrexian Metamorph
2 Triskelion

4 Thorn of Amethyst
2 Crucible of Worlds
1 Trinisphere
1 Umezawa's Jitte

1 Voltaic Key
1 Time Vault
1 Spine of Ish Sah
2 Kuldotha Forgemaster
2 Cavern of Souls
2 Staff of Domination

Sideboard:
3 Sphere of Resistance
3 Grafdigger's Cage
2 Witchbane Orb
1 Homeward Path
2 Wurmcoil Engine
2 Dismember
1 Duplicant
1 Sundering Titan

My thought is to just be some crazy combo shop deck with metalworker/staff shenanigans.

Null rod makes this list cry, but it's only a starting point.

I probably have this deck running in so many different directions by implementing forgemaster for a swiss army knife of tools; I also wanted to make use of cavern of souls (construct) while also allowing for access to 'colorless' mana for Thought-Knot Seer as a backup if the metalworker plan goes south.

Thank you for the write up - it was entertaining and the deck is interesting. If you don't mind constructive criticism, I would recommend going back through and edit your post. It would make for an easier read.

I am also concerned about this:
@elusive said:

I'm fetching tinker and see that some of my sideboard cards are upside down. I mention to him that it wasn't his fault the sleeve broke... "JUDGE!!!!!!"
I'd been playing for about 10 hours at this point and I couldn't believe it.
the judge came over, gave me a warning and told us to continue. I was so pissed I tilted bad. I didn't want to play not one more game. I scooped with tinker still resolving for the key.

Calling a judge should not be tilt worthy. Players make mistakes, especially at the end of long tournaments, and judges know this. This is quite common in other formats and should be more common in Vintage. It is possible that the opponent was angle shooting, but it's also possible that he wanted a time extension while you fixed your deck to avoid a potential unintentional draw in game 3. The warning is because there is a potential for advantage - a card inserted upside down could be used to "mark" that card. It's a very common mistake and almost always unintentional, but this needs to be recorded. If it keeps on happening, it raises the probability that it's being done intentionally. This is all about preserving the integrity of the game, not punishing an honest mistake.

Congrats on your finish. I hope you enjoyed the rest of the event.

@elusive said:

Totally agree.
looking back it was purely a result of hangover/no food all day. I don't think my opponent even knew I was upset, and I certainly wasn't upset with the judge that did indeed give us a time extension. I knew that the warning was meaningless with only 1 game left in the tourney. Before I went there I told myself that my opponents were all going to leave thinking I was the nicest guy they saw all day, win or lose. I think I lived up to it.

Side note,
the judges were all awesome. really good people with the difficult task of herding cats slinging unfamiliar cards.

I don't seem to have the ability to edit posts.

I was your final round opponent.

Going into our match, I think our small chit chat both established that we were pretty much ready to be done with a long but fun day of vintage. Regardless, I wanted to finish the day strong with as good of a performance as I could.

I do not recall apologizing that excessively with regards to your broken sleeve in game 1 of the final round, but since I am used to calling judges regularly for stuff like that, it's just my instinctive action to call and get that extra minute or so while you replaced your sleeve. Also, playing with these particular set of cards (vintage) just compels me to take extra care at all times.

With regards to our game 2 situation (the flipped sideboard cards), I called the judge once you mentioned that your sideboard cards in your deck were flipped around. Since I have never come across that situation personally until then, I called a judge instinctively to handle the situation. I do not recall the exact wording from the judge, but I was under the assumption that you received a warning and/or penalty and to continue with our match. My motive was to preserve the integrity of the game given the information I had at the time. Since I had no experience in the past with interacting with you outside of our match, I took what I felt was the right procedure (ie calling a judge).

From my perspective, after the judge came over and did his ruling, you just scooped mid-tinker, so I proceeded to game 3 as normal. If the judge let us proceed and you wanted to continue that game, then I would have been fine with it. Instead, we just proceeded to game 3, and the story continues.

I hope this clears up things from my end and perspective. Hopefully, I'll see you again next eternal weekend.

Hey all,

Just following-up regarding whether the bye for Eternal Weekend is transferrable to the other Eternal Weekend events (Europe and Asia).

Card Titan has informed me that they are NOT transferable and can only be used for the event that it feeds. Therefore, the byes earn can only be applied to the North American Vintage Championship.

Stay tuned for our next event. At this time, we are aiming for some time in June.

Also, if you're interested in earning some byes for Vintage Champs, my lgs is holding a vintage championship trial on Sunday.

It should be about 90 from DC proper.

Just look in the tournament forums for additional information.

Alternate Worlds in Hunt Valley, MD is thinking of running back-to-back sanctioned Vintage trials the first weekend of August (Aug 4th and Aug 5th).

However, before committing to this, the store requested that I reach out and see if that would be something people from out of state (as well as local players) would be interested in attending.

After some discussion with a few attendees at the previous trials, I know some US players are planning to attend the Asian Vintage Championship and figure this might be a good time to get some quality testing in for that event (as well as earn some byes for the US Vintage Championship in November).

As a reminder, we are unable to run vintage trials for byes for the Asian Vintage Championship as this time.

Would this be of interest to some?

Looking for some feedback when possible.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
