    • RE: Understanding Vintage Metagame Data

I find the player-specific aspect of the MTGO data to be underrepresented in our overall narrative of data mining. I really wanted to discuss this in more detail during the show, but we'd already been arguing for an hour and I didn't want to add too much more of it.

Suffice it to say, I believe that one of the critical flaws in the MTGO results is how few players it represents, given that a very short list of players make up a high percentage of the 3-1/4-0 results.

    • RE: SMIP Podcast # 69: Three Months Later AKA The Q2 Metagame

Lots of good conversation, here. Thanks, everyone.

To clarify one summation that Steve mentioned regarding my unrestriction position: I believe that each of the four cards we seriously discussed could be unrestricted, but not all at once. Multiple unrestrictions is just as dangerous and problematic as multiple restrictions. Here's the order I would do them in, given the choice:

      1. Bargain
      2. Seal
      3. Windfall
      4. Library

I know that Library carries certain risks. I don't believe such risks would result in any sort of synonym for "ruination" of the format. Some people - possibly many - might not like the result. <- This statement describes every Vintage metagame I have ever been a part of. As such, I don't consider it a primary reason for inaction.

No, I've not tested any of these proposals. It would be a fun exercise, but too time-consuming and ultimately fruitless, for reasons already discussed.

Thanks, everyone, for listening and for being so passionate about the format!

    • RE: San Antonio, TX Vintage: Who's interested?

Best of luck organizing, my Texas friends.

One suggestion: for locally*-focused efforts such as this, I recommend getting regular participants in touch on an alternate platform such as a messenger or chat app. TMD is great, and I wouldn't advise against it, but every little bit helps.

'* I appreciate that the definition of "local" is special, in Texas 😉

Hello, @Ophidian , I do live in GR. I'll be at FNM at Big Kidz Games this Friday night, if you'd like to meet. I go there to trade, play some EDH, draft and (rarely) test Vintage.

If you'd like to chat, I prefer Twitter (@kevincron).
