For 6 mana rather have a Consecrated Sphinx. Making insects is nice but not better than drawing 2 cards to the opponent's one. 6 toughness Sphinx blocks Thought-Knot Seer and survives as well as survives Chandra's -3 for 4 damage while this Locust does not.
Congratulations to all the winners.
Nice to see Joe doing well with Narset. Love Narset, not as good as Jace, the Mindsculptor but a great buddy to baby Jace. Ultimates pretty fast locking out control decks and you draw a card about 2/3 the time with the plus and rebounding broken blue cards is amazing. I played Narset when legal in standard and even there rebounding Dig Through Time was game winning.
Depends on when in June or July. Life gets in the way of traveling to events often. Friends and Family > magic events. An important birthday stopped me from attending this year. Summer in general is not good for attending Magic events. The one gaming event I do attend during the summer is Gencon and the closer your event is to Gencon the less likely I will attend.
April or May outside of snow range before summer would be a better time.
$120 Entry fee does not bother me. Guaranteeing prizes to top 8 and 9-16 being based on attendance might be the way to go to keep costs down.
Venue that is not on Long Island that more accessible to those flying and has better food options would make it more attractive in general. Rather not have on site fast food and driving in Long Island with the summer beach traffic is no fun.
Is it possible for events to have a lunch break? Or does that not work time wise? Pokemon events have lunch breaks. I go to work I get a lunch break. This actually is a big issue and why some friends do not attend large magic events. They won't starve and do 10 round marathons.
Like the art on the Mana Crypt but the Judge foil Old Border Crucible of Worlds and Sword of Fire/Ice and Sword of Feast and Famine look much better.
The Expeditions and Masterpieces are made with Eternal players in mind. Not just Vintage but the target market is people who foil their Commander decks and Cubes. There are more Commander and Cubers who want shiny things then vintage players. You can tell by their choice of some of the cards not pictured like the Gearhulks, Champion's Helm, Chromatic Lantern, Gauntlet of Power, Lightning Greaves, Mind's Eye, Rings of Brightheart, SCroll Rack, Sculpting Steel, Solemn Simulacrum and Swords are all commander cards.
Seems great in blue mirrors but there is plenty of shops and eldrazi lately.
I would like this much more as a 3/4 like Rhox War Monk so it would be good against creature decks. 3/3 other then being bolt bait trades with 3 mana Eldrazi and dies to new Thalia.
I think BUG is not more popular because of the Swords to Plowshares, Path to Exile and Balance options of white make it better against all the creature decks right now.
Nice to see the results so quickly. Thank you.
I tried to play in this after scrubbing out of GP Indy but updating MTGO on hotel wifi didn't work so well so I literally was about to clicked on join when it fired. Watched The_Atog_Lord stream for a little bit before going out with friends. One of these days I will play in one of these just usually out doing something on a Saturday.
