Paradoxical Storm- DRAW CARDS FOREVER

Hey everyone-

I normally am not one to do write ups, but I wanted to share the deck I have been working on for a week and ran in the Oct P9. I went 4-3 while going...
3-0 vs Mentor decks
1-0 vs Landstill
0-2 vs Sphere decks
0-1 vs Odd Oath (g3 mull to 4)
The deck felt unbeatable vs U decks and unwinnable vs Sphere decks which is why I want to add 1 more Hurkyl's to the mb.

The deck is a little glass cannon, but is very consistent and resilient. I wanted to post for ideas and thoughts.

1 Black Lotus
3 Chrome Mox
1 Petal
1 Mana Crypt
5 Moxes
4 Mox Opal
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Brainstorm
1 Chain of Vapor (does so much in this deck)
4 Gtiaxian Probe
1 Mana Vault
1 Ponder
1 Sensei's Top
1 Preordain ( i want to add a 2nd)
1 Sol Ring
2 Defense Grid (thinking I only want these in the SB and more Hurkyl's mb)
2 Grim Monolith
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Hurkyl's Recall
1 Merchant Scroll
1 Time Walk
1 Timetwister
1 Tinker (great package with Jar g1 but so much flexibility in this deck)
1 Yawgmoth's Will
4 Paradoxical Outcome
1 Tendrils of Agony
1 Memory Jar
1 Mind's Desire
1 Wheel of Fortune
1 Island
3 Polluted Delta
1 Tolarian Academy
3 Underground Sea
1 Volcanic Island

4 Tormod's Crypt
1 Chain of Vapor
2 Flusterstorm
1 Blightsteel Colossus (was able to steal quick games with tinker g2 or 3)
2 Hurkyl's Recall
1 Empty the Warrens
2 Mindbreak Trap
1 Island
1 Pyroblast

So blue belcher minus the belcher plus black for will and tendrils?

@dantheman pretty much lol. I actually played against a belcher deck during a 2 man today, game 1 I won turn 1, game 2 he won turn 1, game 3 I won turn 2, it was magical

I just saw the list Reid Duke played at champs, actually pretty similar to the one I played in the P9. I think this deck needs some work though

@darkquarterer Reid was in the top 32 and his list is in the link. Just ctrl+F to search for him.

if you want to win more against spheres.. I'd add more chain of vapor.
I had great luck bouncing spheres until I went off.

@elusive thanks. Yeah I felt that I need 1 Chain mb and 2 Hurkyls mb, or the other way around.

You destroyed me in several "mirror"games the other day I was playing with a urw list that's similar to Rich Shay and I honestly like your list a lot at a glance looks like I know what changes I'll be trying.

@caggii hey, yeah we had good games! Your list looked awesome too.
, I started playing magic in 1996, this is the most fun deck I've ever played. Guess it's all credit to Paradoxical obviously

no slot for ancient tomb?

Why no time vault and voltaic key?
That combo is good against Shops and Eldrazi Matchs

I've been playing several versions of paradoxical, but I'm currently playing the following:

Paradoxical Academy

Main Deck (61)
Creatures (2)
1 Snapcaster Mage
1 Sphinx of the Steel Wind (against Dack Fayden)

Spells (47)
1 Black Lotus
1 Engineered Explosives
1 Mana Crypt
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Pearl
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Sapphire
3 Mox Opal
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Brainstorm
1 Candelabra of Tawnos
1 Expedition Map
1 Mana Vault
1 Repeal
1 Sol Ring
1 Vampiric Tutor
2 Sensei's Divining Top
3 Voltaic Key
1 Balance
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Grim Monolith
1 Hurkyl's Recall
1 Merchant Scroll
1 Time Vault
1 Time Walk
1 Thirst for Knowledge
1 Timetwister
1 Tinker
4 Paradoxical Outcome
1 Tezzeret the Seeker
4 Force of Will
4 Thoughtcast

Lands (12)
1 Island
1 Misty Rainforest
1 Polluted Delta
1 Scalding Tarn
1 Tolarian Academy
1 Tropical Island
1 Tundra
1 Underground Sea
2 Mana Confluence

Sideboard (15)
2 Forbidden Orchard
1 Flusterstorm
2 Nature's Claim
1 Ancient Grudge
1 Hurkyl's Recall
4 Oath of Druids
1 Toxic Deluge
1 Tidespout Tyrant
1 Blazing Archon
1 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn

As for your list, I would make the following changes:

-1 Defense Grid => +1 Time Vault
-1 Grim monolith => +1 Voltaic Key
-1 Defense Grid => +1 Hurkyl's Recall
-1 Chrome Mox => +1 Tezzeret the Seeker

Thought I would share this classic.

@i_b_TRUE yea I felt super behind with the u/r/w list it felt a little better when I switched to my latest version of thieves that I have been testing outcome in. I started about the same time and I don't think I have had this much fun in a long time playing the deck feels similar to like old school academy decks.

This deck is awesome, I wish we could have finished our match last night but I was tethering off my phone and got into a bad coverage area, disconnected and dropped from the daily

I built a very similar list based on what I saw Reid playing. Deck is really strongly and consistently turn 1s, brings a big goofy smile to my face every time. Great not to have to set up Yawgmoth's Will to win. Even if your first attempt to go off gets countered you have late game against blue.

You keep drawing threats that must be counted and eventually your opponent runs out of cards, one resolves and you win. If I expected a lot of blue would be tempted to play one defense grid main, it can always be tinkered/tutored for in a pinch if there is a spell you have to resolve.

Chain is great, I've generated enough storm count to win with chain plus tendrils a bunch of mana rocks and three land in play.
