Smokestack Reduces his cost by 4. Just sayin.
Could also go for a stronger lockdown version:
4 Metalwork Colossus
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Pearl
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Mana Crypt
1 Black Lotus
3 Null Rod
4 Crucible of Worlds
4 Ghirapur Orrery
4 Tangle Wire
4 Sphere of Resistance
4 Thorn of Amethyst
3 Bazaar of Baghdad
3 Mishra’s Factory
3 Ghost Quarter
1 Strip Mine
4 Ancient Tomb
4 Mishra’s Workshop
1 Tolarian Academy

Note, also, that this fattie does not Trample.
[movie announcer voice] In a world where token creatures run have run amok. One man. One desire. To have his giant finisher not be chump blocked all damn day. [/movie announcer voice]

Smokestack also costs you cards that then increase his cost unless you have crucible lock online, and if you have crucible lock online you may already be in a good place.
Are there any other artifacts that can cheat themselves into play. Salvage Titan combos well with him if you wanna go all in.

I think Karn is in most cases superior to this card.
1 sphere, it costs 10.
2 spheres, it costs 9.
2 spheres, 1 thorn, it costs 7.
2 spheres, 2 thorns, it costs 5.
At what point does this become good? If I wanted 10-ish power on the board for 5 mana, I'd play Precursor Golem first.
This is a very sound argument.

I can't see this guy costing more than 6 mana on turn 3 in a non- aggro shops deck.

Kaladesh is totally Urzas Sags 2.0, and I love it. However, I'm with the skeptics on this card. It's a fattie that can only be cast if you are already winning. We don't play Mycosynth Golem.
The recursion element is nice and all,but again, is the issue facing shops really getting their threats nuked? Between the High and Wide Bros (ravager and walker) I don't think so.
Still, this card is not embarassing, and I look forward to seeing new spicy brewz.
One storyline I could make up is that removal is the issue and this guy is the way to play fatties again

A lot of that removal is exile, which this guy does not help against. Though getting 10 life back is relevant enough to give STP a second thought.
The decks that keep mentioning this guy (MUD, Stax, etc), I just don't see it. None of those decks have a slot to waste on something like this, and none of those decks can afford a dead card slot. At least the forgemaster decks had alternative ways to get these kinds of cards out. Even in the most ideal conditions for this guy (multiple moxes, a Stax, some Thorns), he's still not a game over card.
I just don't see any of the mud decks being able to risk running a card like this.
I've seen Salvage Titan used before. So the second ability could have relevance, but overall I agree that this card isn't that good.
