[MID] Augur of Autumn
-
I'm surprised no one is discussing this card. This seems like it could find a home in GW Humans as a much needed draw engine that permits the deck to avoid black (Dark Confidant) or Blue (Ancestral + Selkie or some other draw engine in blue). This card filters through a land on top AND then a creature if you can meet the Coven requirement (this seems rather trivial with access to Noble Hierarch at 0 power, and then a million other possibilities at 1 power OR 3+ Power with things like Luminarch Aspirant helping control powers on board even further. I really like this card and definitely plan on testing it in my humans builds. Has anyone else thought about it?

To be fair, not everyone has your predilection to GW Humans.
I think this card is good, but I think you will run into issues generating substantial card advantage against the matchups in which it matters most (eg, decks with removal that are capable of keeping you off Coven). I will also add that that it doesn't have to be Humans and decks that run Elvish Reclaimer can be strong as well since you gain value from the shuffle and extra lands.

@chubbyrain1 I guess the question is: Is this card good enough even when coven isn't active?

people have played courser of kruphix in vintage before, technically.

I think "good enough" is a judgement call that I find very difficult to answer in a vacuum. To begin with, sound doesn't transmit well without air, and I would likely be preoccupied with trying not to die. The other part is the value of playing extra lands from the top of your library depends on the number of lands you are running and the impact of those lands. I mentioned Elvish Reclaimer (not just in Vintage) because I thought it would be a shell that maximizes the value of Augur by running more lands and higher impact lands. Whether it is good enough given the competition at 3 is again contextual...
Specifically for Humans, I think you could increase value by running Horizon Canopy and Fetches. If you are on a 5c manabase (I know you mentioned GW without B or U), I really don't think you would get a lot of value playing additional Caverns, Mana Confluences, etc off the top.

mmm cc3 is a lot for a 2/3.
you play it turn2/3 and then wait one full turn to get your extra land. In mid game it's easier to get that land and play it. Without coven is too slow (even if intel is always good).
It pitches !
in the end it's playable but slow/unexciting.
